Advice for foreign and German academics on finding a job (since 2012)
Applicants and companies often look at an application from two different perspectives. It’s good to have someone who understands both sides.
Due to my work experience as a recruiter in internationally operating companies, I became aware of how difficult it is for a foreign applicant to know the expectations and working methods of German personnel decision-makers. This gap of Germany-specific application knowledge leads to rejections and thus to disappointment on both sides, even if the applicant is the right one. My career advice gives applicants a fair application chance and allows companies to focus on professional aspects only.
You gain a universal understanding of rules and methods. Your current application is our “practice case” so that you can be a great applicant in the future, even without me.
You become aware of aware of the value of your qualifications and experience. If you know what you have to offer, you can communicate it and sell yourself better.
You can comprehend the perspectives and working methods of recruiters. This will enable you to understand necessary changes and really impress HR decision makers.
My goal is to become carbon neutral in my personal and business life by 2030. For my business, I have implemented the following actions so far:
