Career counsellor Heidi Störr advising foreign jobseekers in Germany

My career advice gives applicants a fair application chance and allows companies to focus on professional aspects only. Due to my work experience as a recruiter in internationally operating companies, I became aware of how difficult it is for a foreign applicant to know the expectations and working methods of German personnel decision-makers. This gap of Germany-specific application knowledge leads to rejections and thus to disappointment on both sides, even if the applicant is the right one.

Applicants and companies often look at an application from two different perspectives.

Good to have someone who understands both sides.

My Goal: A big-picture view for long-term application success

1. Comprehend Rules

You gain a universal understanding of rules and methods. Your current application phase is our “practice case” so that you can be a compelling candidate again in the future.

2. Recognise Strengths

You become aware of the value of your qualifications and experience. If you know what you have to offer, you can communicate it and sell yourself better.

3. Understand Recruiters

You get to know the perspectives and working methods of recruiters. This will enable you to understand necessary changes and really impress HR decision makers.
