Who is the target group of these courses?
The job-seeker training is primarily aimed at foreigners who have little knowledge of application rules in Germany. The examples in the seminars are optimized for engineers, natural scientists and economists with a doctoral degree or a Master. Nevertheless, the application principles I teach naturally apply to non-academic job seekers as well. Even if you want to work in an apprenticed profession, you will benefit greatly from the information given in the courses.
What does a self-study course look like in practice?
Each seminar consists of videos in which I explain exactly what you need to know. The duration of each webinar is indicated individually in the detailed decription. You will also receive the presentation slides from the video for download and, depending on the seminar module, additional sample material or work handouts to help you with your personal implementation. All self-teaching modules (except the work permit) conclude with a learning test in which important information from the respective self-study unit is reviewed. If necessary, you can repeat the relevant video sequence using the time markers provided.
For details on the content of each seminar unit, click on the module title or icon above.
How soon can an online course module be started?
Once you have paid, you will receive the link to your chosen module within a few minutes. After that you can start immediately.
How long are the self-study courses?
The course modules vary in length. You can find the exact video duration in the detailed description when you click on a specific module. Of course, you will need to plan additional time for yourself in order to anchor your knowledge with the learning test and prepare the content for yourself, e.g. with the help of the worksheets provided.
The price is always based on the duration of the course videos – completely fair.
How long can a self-study class be accessed?
After activation, you can access the webinar for three months. During this period, you can pause and repeat the videos as you wish. Please note: After your purchase you must activate the course within 48 h. The activation link will be submittet via email some minutes after your payment was confirmed.
How can I deduct a self-study course from my taxes?
The self-study webinars and individual consulations are tax deductible and part of the so called “Werbungskosten” in Germany. Please collect and keep all invoices and bills for your effords to find a job e.g. for flights, Visa, phone calls, relocation and this career advice as well. If you have finally found a job in Germany you should read more about tax declarations in Germany to get your investments back. You can also use the support of a tax assistance union (“Lohnsteuerhilfeverein”), which is much cheaper than a tax consultant.
To get an overview of the most commmon costs, I recommend these two articles. They are in German but you can use the translation function of your browser.
